Strategies for Pursuing a Career in Conflict Resolution
David Matz, J.D., Director of the Graduate Programs in Dispute Resolution

David will be joined by a panel of professionals involved in different aspects of the field, who will share their perspectives on the range of opportunities available to students and other aspiring entrants. They will be available to talk with conference registrants and answer questions.
Dina Beach Lynch
Dina Beach Lynch has been a full-time mediator for the more than a decade, and owns three successful dispute resolution companies. Dina’s career includes work as a system designer, trainer, facilitator and Ombuds. Currently, Dina is an external Ombuds for clients in the fields of law, academia and manufacturing; she is also a consultant and coach to people starting or building an ADR practice. She previously was a senior vice president and Corporate Ombudsman for the former Fleet Bank.
Matthew Schweisberg
Matt Schweisberg has a background in environmental regulation, enforcement, and dispute resolution with twenty-six years of federal service. He is an experienced mediator and facilitator with the EPA New England Region’s Alternative Dispute Resolution program. As a member of EPA’s Regional ADR team, Mr. Schweisberg mediates environmental cases, and facilitates both small and large group meetings and conferences. He also serves as a lead mediator for EEO cases for the shared neutrals program operated by the Greater Boston Federal Executive Board.
David Kovick
David Kovick is a Senior Associate at the Consensus Building Institute, where his work focuses on dispute resolution in international settings. Current projects include management of an Advanced Negotiation training program for the United Nations Development Program (UNDP). Prior to joining CBI, David spent five years working in international political development with the National Democratic Institute for International Affairs (NDI). He also served as a fellow with the William and Flora Hewlett Foundation’s Conflict Resolution Program.
Darren Kew
Darren Kew is Assistant Professor of Dispute Resolution at the University of Massachusetts Boston. He holds a PhD from Tufts University’s Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy. Darren studies the relationship between transformative conflict resolution methods and democratic development. His work is recognized by policymakers in Washington and academics here and in Nigeria as one of the few up-and-coming American scholars with deep, firsthand knowledge of Nigerian politics and society. He has served a consultant to the United Nations, USAID, the US State Department, and to a number of NGOs.
