Jeanne Cleary, MA, Lesley University

Cleary

Jeanne Cleary has worked in the mental health field for the past twenty-nine years and has provided mediation, facilitation, relational psychotherapy and training in her private practice in Watertown since 1987.

For the past sixteen years, Ms. Cleary has taught mediators in basic and divorce mediation through her affiliation with the Community Dispute Settlement Center in Cambridge, MA.

Ms. Cleary has developed training and conflict engagement strategies for corporations, non-profits, educational organizations and religious organizations.

Ms. Cleary has had extensive experience in the resolution of domestic conflicts, beginning with her work as a founding staff of a home for runaway adolescents in 1979, work in the Sexual Abuse Investigation Unit of Juvenile Court in Kansas City, KS, to her work at Suffolk Probate and Family Court in Boston where she mediated divorce cases and contributed to the development of the Family Court mediation program in the early1980’s.

From1987 to 2000, Ms. Cleary served as a Clinical Ongoing Guardian ad Litem, a court-appointed service which provides for ongoing mediation, guidance and consultation to families with chronic child access disputes. In 1991 Ms. Cleary was a founding clinician and clinical director of Meeting Place, a supervised child access project in Cambridge, MA.

Ms. Cleary has taught courses in conflict resolution at University of Massachusetts, Boston and Boston University, School of Public Health, International Department. She has presented at numerous conferences including for the Massachusetts Association of Guardians ad Litem, Flaschner Judicial Institute, the Boston Bar Association Alternative Dispute Resolution Committee, the Massachusetts Psychological Association, and Harvard University’s Kennedy School of Government.

Jeanne Cleary received her BA in theology and psychology from Bates College 1977, her MA in clinical psychology from Lesley University 1987, and advanced clinical training in transpersonal psychotherapy from Theravision Institute in Boston 1990.
